Herriman Fire

On Sunday when it was time to head home we were stranded because I-80 was closed down because of a fire so we decided to go and see Jason's dad who lives on Rose Canyon Rd in Herriman.   We could see a lot of smoke coming from the mountain but we never really thought that it would get as bad as it did.  By the time it was dark around 7 or 8 we walked outside to see the flames just pouring down the mountain.  It was pretty scary.  It happened SO fast!  The road in front of Jason's Dads house was just full of vehicles to the point the Fire trucks were having a hard time getting through.  We decided to stay there for a few hours till the roads died down because police started blocking off all traffic that went up to Herriman.   The smoke was SO strong there.  My car almost a week later still smells awful and so does our cloths.  It was really strange because we were watching a bunch of houses burn down...like way more than what they reported on the news. Yet there is only proof of 3 and 1 with damage.  We really cant explain what we were all watching.  So either some huge miracle happened or we were just seeing things.  Either way...we were not the only ones watching homes go up in flames and I am sure the others who witnessed it all also are also baffled.  We are so glad that the damage was less than what we thought.  This was defiantly something that will stick out in our memories.

Family Pictures September 2010

We finally did some more family pictures and they all turned out great.   I LOVE them.  I have over 160 pictures saved on my computer from them and they are ALL great.  It was really hard to post just a few of my favorites here on this blog.   We took them in AF canyon and my little sister Megan took the pictures for us using my new camera.  Stacee also came along to help get in a few extra smiles.   Thanks so much guys.

State Fair Sled Pull 2010

We had our final pull at the State Fair last Saturday.  It was a good day at the fair.  Fair sled pulls are so much fun because there is soo much to do to keep busy and have fun.   There were 6 pullers in Jasons class and Jason had a good run.   Jason took 5th place.  The winner had only won him by 7 or 8 feet.   So it was a really tight competition to say the least.  Jason hated taking second to the last place but what do you do?   It is comforting to know the winner didn't win by too much.  We have had a great season and we will be ready to go again for next year.

Last Day of Summer, First Day of School

Here is a picture of my Baby yesterday while we were catching some pictures for him to put on his rocket ship for his first day of school. It was a special little day for us being our official last day of summer together before he grew big and started school. We loved every minute.
Here is a few pictures of Dayton before school this morning. He was soo excited. He not only picked out his clothes but he also requested that he wanted his hair done like baby Macs

I snapped this picture just to show how big his huge back pack looks on this little boy
I walked Dayton into his school and we put his back pack on his hanger and he was off. He didn't say goodbye with all of the excitement in the air. I was not really sad to leave him but more excited for him. I am sure the first day of Kindergarten will be a different story for me at least. Good luck in school buddy! I know you will love it and I know you will learn tons and tons. Show em' how smart you are!

Labor Day Weekend 2010

This year for Labor Day we were quite busy. Me and my friend Rachel left from Rock Springs on Friday morning to head off to Swiss days in Midway, Utah for some shopping. We spent lots of money and we found some great ideas for some crafts for the up coming holidays. Afterward we went to my sister Stacee's house. After socializing we went to dinner to Texas Roadhouse where Rachel and I out ate the guys by at least 8 ounces and we both ordered 16 oz prime rib steaks. After some good food we headed to the park to let the kids get all of their wiggles out. The following day we did some small shopping around Lehi and SLC and headed to go to Jason's sled pull in Ogden. On our way we passed Hill Air Force Museum and we decided to stop and let the kids explore. It was fun. Dayton and Max loved all of the helicopters, Planes and Jets. We arrived in Ogden around 4:30 for the pulls. It was long and hot. After waiting 3 hours, Jason finally pulled. There were 5 in his class and Jason pulled 2nd place. It was good competition for us. He did great and he didn't have a break down which means State fair here we come! After the pulls Rachel drove home and I was left to drive home Jason's Truck and Jason drive home the motor home that has been parked at my dads house. Since I am very uneducated at a manual my wonderful sisters joined in on the ride home to help me out. A half hour into the drive I had enough and I was ready to hand the steering wheel over to Megan and Megan drove for the rest of the drive home. We arrived back home around 1:30 AM. Jason ended up sleeping on the side of the road in the motor home and woke up in the morning at 9 to finish his journey. Once he was back and showered we left the house to go to Jason's dad's camp site at Flaming Gorge for a little BBQ and some Stott family time. The food was good. Dayton loved throwing rocks in the lake. We have officially raised the water elevation where we were sitting. Lee came and picked up my sisters and they went home leaving just me and my family. We left around 7:30 and came home to get a red box and we sat down to watch a movie as a family together. On Monday we were mostly lazy all day. We went to the show Nanny McPhee Returns and came home and ate dinner after. It was a long eventful weekend and it summed up our summer that is soon coming to an end.
