Tremonton Sled Pull

After all the years of sled pulling, you definitely learn the good sled pulls from the bad.  Tremonton is always a good pull.  All the family comes, there are huge crowds, and there is 8 hours worth of sled pulling cause so many truck want to compete in this show.    Tremonton is also great because we are able to celebrate Dayton's Birthday!!   For his party we had chicken legs, side dishes and cup cakes.   Jason didn't win this year but it was close.

Daytons Super Smoking Sixth Skylanders Birthday

Dayton has turned 6 years old!  Last years birthday parties about put me over the edge so this year we decided to calm things down and just do family parties.   Dayton wanted a skylander cake.  He and I made a portal for the Skylanders.
This is a picture in the morning when we let Dayton open all of his presents.
For Dayton's birthday activities he wanted to go to dinner at McDonald's and play on the toys, go bowling and watch a family movie.

All of his dreams came true on his birthday!
what would be a birthday without singing the birthday song and letting Dayton blow out his candles!?!

Garden 2013

Its my first year with my raspberry patch and surprisingly enough, I have had some growing!  They are delicious!
I had Dayton stand next to my tomato plants to get a perspective on how big they are getting.    (Dayton is 43 inches tall)
Here is a picture of my beets, carrots next and in the far way back all the lettuce.  (I had just picked the lettuce the day before so that's why its looking small and short)
here is my corn.  The tallest stuff stands the same height as Dayton (43 inches)
 My peas
I too this picture to show my cucumbers growing behind the tomatoes.
This is a closer shot of my onions that I'm growing.  They are doing so well.  These pictures make everything look so small but right now these onions are sitting around 2-3 inches in diameter.
I am growing on my back patio in pots, watermelon, Dayton's spaghetti squash, on deck corn, strawberries, and potatoes.   My watermelon is what is pictured above.  It just has taken off in the past few days.  There are little watermelons growing on them too!   Everyone says its not possible to grow them but I am bound and determined to make it work.
I ran out of room in my back yard for gardening so I moved some of my garden in the front yard this year.   The first three bushes are the pumpkins, followed by zucchini, crookneck squash, another spaghetti squash, and another zucchini at the top of the garden area.   Everyday my front yard garden is growing by leaps and bounds, I come home from work and it always looks like my plants are doubling in size.

I also have growing: bush beans, Cantaloupe, and honeydew.  They are all doing well its just every time I go to take a picture its all really shadowed  in the morning and you cant see the plants.

I am very pleased with everything that is growing this year.  Seems we had a really cold spring so everything has had a really late start.  By what I could tell from being in Utah a few weeks ago, my garden is 2 weeks behind what Utah gardens are doing.   Weather people are talking that we should have a really warm fall which would be really great for my pumpkins, honeydew, cantaloupe and watermelon.   Beans this year have gave me more of a challenge than last year also.  For some reason only maybe an 1/8 of what I planted actually grew.  I think the birds are finding the seeds and taking them.  I dug up some area to see if the seeds had rotted and they weren't even in the soil.   As it stand right now I have 8 bush beans plants growing which is enough but I was really hoping for 20 so I could bottle some dilly beans.

personal notes:  -Corn (on deck hybrid) doesn't like the pots on the patio, I think its too hot
-Raspberries only like water 3 times a week
-Try growing potatoes in a different container next year
-Dayton's spaghetti squash started out great but now its progress isn't so impressive.  I think the squash doesn't like the pot or the heat.
-Cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon need to be started indoors 2 or 3 weeks before 2nd week in May
-Watermelon and strawberries are loving the pots on the patio.  Watermelon loves heat as well as well-drained organic soil.  I have both of those and my watermelon are showing it.
-I read to keep onions around lettuce, carrots and beets to keep out rabbits as well as some insects.  This has worked, but I don't feel I have enough onions and I feel they would do better in rows.  Also the wind here isn't the onions friend.  Onions like full to part sun.
-Beets and carrots have loved the extra deep organic soil.  I tried thinning both of them out really well this year and it has done wonders.  My beets are HUGE!  And super tender as well.
-The beets, carrots and lettuce that are closest to the onions have an extra wonderful flavor.
-cucumber love warmth and afternoon shade.

Bully Dog Days

This year bully dog added sled pulls to their venue.  They had their annual dog days on July 12th 2013.   We showed up and pulled.  We also broke an axle in the midst of it.   If you look closely at the picture only one side of the truck tires are kicking up dirt while the other side its just nice and dirt free.    Jason drove home that night to get a spare axle that we had in Rock Springs, and got back to Pocatello the next morning around 8.   There was a sled pull scheduled in Grace on Saturday night that we tried to make it to.   We thought we had everything up and running and when it was our turn to pull, Jason tried to turn on the truck and broke a hole through the oil filter cause it was so cold and our oil was too thick.   So needless to say Jason lost an entire night of sleep for nothing.  It was a bad deal.  All over an oil filter!!  pshh!  Hopefully we can still catch back up in the points that we lost for not pulling.

Birthday time!!

Look at these beautiful flowers my hubby got me for my birthday!!  He is amazing.  My birthday was filled full of my kids singing the birthday song, lots of smiles and lots of laughing.  There is no way that I would rather spend my birthday than surrounded by my little family.

Truck washing

Jace washes his truck more times in a week than most people do in a year.   He loves his truck to look clean, inside and out.   I know I am always taking pictures of this stuff, but its so cute and it never gets old.

Birthday Surprise Visit

My amazing sister came up to Rock Springs to surprise me for an early birthday gift.  It was so amazing.  It was the last thing that I expected!  When they walked through the door I couldn't help but cry.  I wish I had family that lived closer.   I get so lonely and depressed all the time.  Nothing like 2 sisters showing up out of the blue to make life feel better!  Thanks Stacee and Megan for making a huge effort to come up for my birthday!    As soon as the little boys were together they threw on their swimming suits and swam for a few hours.  They loved it and they had so much fun together.
Here is a little snap shot of me and my sisters and our babies.    I cant wait for these cute babes to get older and start to play and interact together!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July Everyone!  Our 4th was so busy and so fun!  Dad, Kari, and her grand kids, Evan, Jordyn and Peyton came up as well as my Mother in-law Toni.  We started the day swimming in our pool, then we went to the sand dunes.
Peyton and Jordyn learned how to ride a four wheeler for their first time ever.   Dayton and Jace were so excited to have cousins there that were their own ages to play with.
Rhett was a little trooper riding in the RZR.  He was so good and hardly put up a fuss.   Around 5the rain started to come down really hard so we loaded back up and headed home for a BBQ.
We had ribs, corn on the cobb, salad, fruit salad and potatoes.

Right after dinner we went outside and did some of our own little fireworks.
once our small little box of fireworks was gone, we got into the truck to go see the big fireworks show that Rock Springs puts on.  It was an amazing show like always and it was even better that we were able to watch it surrounded by family.   Thanks everyone for coming up!

Brand New Pool

With the Wave Crashers holes, We went to go buy a new one so we could play outside in the water for the 4th of July.  They had another one similar to what we had, and then they had this swimming pool on sale for only 99 buck which included the pool pump.  Well of course you can tell what I decided to buy!   Its 12 feet across and 36 inches deep.  It took 6 hours to fill it up with water. But that didn't stop the boys from playing in it while it was filling up .  They were so excited, but I don't think they were as excited as I was.  As much as I hate the water, I love to see my kids have fun in it.

Last of the Wave Crasher

Jason has let me come home for work early a lot more than usual lately.  Today he let me come home early to mow the lawn and do yard work.   The little girl in me didn't want to do yard work.  She wanted to have fun in the water.  So I got the wave crasher out for the boys and let them soak up some summer.  Once I got it all set up, I found 2 holes in it that couldn't be fixed.  So we had to sit outside with the air compressor constantly on to keep the tubes full of air.  This didn't phase the boys at all though.  They had fun for hours with it.

Jaces First Lost Tooth

July 1st has officially marked the first for Jace.  He finally lost his tooth.  It became wiggly in 2011 at Thanksgiving time after Jace was jumping on a bed with his cousins in St. George and he fell off and his mouth landed on the corner of a piece of wood.  Both of his top teeth were actually loose but the one hardened up and the other stayed loose and never died.  So this has been a long time coming.   Not many kids can keep a tooth loose in their mouth for 2 years.
I wasn't super excited about it.  It made me so sad.  I actually shed a few tears over it.  Some how time seems to pass me by.  The tooth in its little baggy is just a token to show time wont stop.  No matter what I do, time will continue to go by so fast and its super heart wrenching.    I am a control freak and it freaks me out that I cant control time.   Please PLEASE boys, stop growing up so fast!!
