Ovando, MT 2013

I love learning about Jason's life as he grew up.  He spend from 5 years old to 10 yrs. in Ovando.  Ovando was BEAUTIFUL!  Green everywhere with the bluest sky.  It was so quiet and peaceful there.  Above is a picture of Jason's house.  They owned 13 Acres here.
Ovando is also the place where Jason burnt down about an acre worth of trees.   It was a simple mistake.  Jason went outside and made his own fire to cook smores.  Once he was done he kicked some dirt on the fire and thought that he had it put out and went back into the house.  Not but a few minutes later all the trees around their house were on fire.   The fire department was called but Jason's Dad, Rick had the fire put out before they got there.  In the picture about you can still see the fire damage on the bottom of all the trees.  You can also see if you look closely that a few trees never did recover and its been 20+ years!
This is turning around in a circle and catchin some of the views that Jason's house overlooked.
It was so peaceful!

While we were there looking around.  Dayton and Jace were able to see a bird house that Jason made when he was little.  They were really excited, especially where the boys made their own bird houses last week.
The town of Ovando was so small!  I could hardly believe it.  Here is the grocery store, hardware store, some other random parts store, and a gift shop.

Across the street is the museum.
I didn't get a picture of the fuel pumps but this is the gas station and the auto garage.
This is the school.  The school here only had two rooms.  K-6 and 7-12.  There were only 3 teachers.  The bigger building off to the side was the lunch room and the gym.   My guess is that these teachers didn't get paid enough!  Seriously can you imagine teaching kids of all those ages at the same time?!?!   Ovando was so charming!  I would love to live there some day.  It turns out Jason brother Jeremy had a dream of buying their house back in Ovando and living in it one day.  One day if we ever get rich, I want to buy the house for Jeremy (and myself of course!  (:  I really loved it there! )
