Dad move-in Party and Shaelynn's Sweet 16

This weekend we headed to Utah for some family time.  We arrived late Friday night.  We started Saturday early at 6 am getting breakfast at Denny's. Then we got dressed and ready to start helping my dad move out of the "Love Shack" at 9am.  Moving was as good as it could be.  It was so nice to be around family and to help out.  Dad's house was really nice and had a very welcoming feeling about it.  It is definitely a "DAD" house. We were only able to help out with 1 load and deliver it that morning because we had lunch planned with Jason's family at 12:30 at the Cheesecake Factory.  Lunch was good, the menu was OVERWHELMING!! (20 pages of different food options to choose from is just over the top!)  ((Jason's Mom, Sisters, Aunt, Cousin, and Kathy and Lisa were there.))  When we were done with our 3 hour lunch break we headed back to Dad's to help unload boxes.  We laughed and had a good time while the kids played and kept busy with toys.  That evening we went to Pirate Island for Shaelynn's 16th Birthday party.  We surprised her with an all expense paid trip to Disneyland!  It was so awesome.  Shae cried and we all teared up.  It was SO sweet.  We are excited for a sister vacation to Disneyland in October.  We headed to Stacee's house after for some birthday cake.  Afterwards we called it a night.

here is a picture of Shae's face when she opened up her birthday Disneyland surprise!

Sunday morning we headed to dads for breakfast and a movie.  A few hours later of helping unload and move stuff around,we were ready to go home.  Dad had a really hard time with his kids leaving and we all had a really really hard time saying goodbye to Shaelynn.  We were ALL crying.  It's so hard letting our sister go when she is so happy with us.  When we are all together we don't feel broken anymore and when she leaves it all comes back.  Although its been two years since my parents split up its still hard and we feel very much broken.  It re-opened very painful feelings for all of us when Shaelynn in the middle of her sophomore year. year had to leave and move to Cedar.  One day I hope we can all just be one big happy family but the pain is still very present and hard feelings run really deep.
All in all it was an awesome weekend.  I love being around family.  Family is my life. Happy Birthday Shaelynn!  I hope that you had a great 16th birthday party with your very best friends!  Dad and Kari, congrats on your new home!

I am sorry to hear that about your family. My parents have been divorced for my whole life for the most part, the pain is always there, but remember the love you show to them and each other if you let it will always fill those gaps and voids you feel.
