Dressing Mom 10-24-2013

Thursday was one of those beautiful days through all of the hurt and grief since Moms passing.  Today was the day that we dressed our Mom.  We kept it very private and personal.  Stacee, Megan, Shae, Annie and I were the only ones there.  We arrived at the Funeral home at 1.  We said a prayer  once we were all together to calm our nerves, we were all really nervous to see our moms body.    After our prayer we stood up and walked together to the next room where mom would be waiting for us.  We removed our shoes when we walked in.  Mom was laying there all beautiful and peaceful with a quilt over her body to keep her warm.  The spirit washed over us and there was only peace and happiness.  We looked at her and talked to her.   We dressed her and we bathed her with our tears.  We played with her hair and rubbed her head just like what she would like.  We made sure we put socks and booties on her feet to keep her feet warm.   We held her hand.   There were many angels in the room that you could feel present.  But the most distinctive one was Mom.  Mom was there.   It was one of the most sacred, spiritual experiences I have ever had in my life.  It was if you could feel moms arms around us.  It was that last bonding moment with mom that will impact our lives forever.  We were there with mom for just over 2 hours.  She looked beautiful when she was dressed.  Our beautiful Mama.  We didn't want to leave when we were finished.  Her hands were warm from us holding them and it was so comforting.  We didn't want to say goodbye to Mom we wanted to stay there with her.   Leaving was hard but we knew that Mom would be around for the Viewing and for the Funeral.
We left the funeral home full of the spirit, full of peace and comfort.   The feeling lingered with us.  The only empty part of us was our bellies. We were starving! So we went to dinner at Tucanos in the River Bottoms.  The food was delicious and it was even better to be surrounded by my sisters and bond with them.  None of us could get over what we had just experienced for the rest of the night.  One of the most beautiful experiences ever!
